The  Birddog, was a Cessna C-170  that had additional radios and a two-man crew, consisting of a pilot in the front seat and an artillery observer in the rear seat, seated fore-and-aft. They were flown in the Korean War and the Vietnam War as a spotter for artillery or fixed-wing a/c and to lead helicopters to a landing zone.
